Yes it sure kills off the conversation we have going on these days.

Sorry guys- we're doing our best. I work a regular job and can't log on from work so sometimes posts may have to wait till I get home and get time to get over here and then find whatever posts are waiting to be approved. Sometimes a few may slip by.

What you don't know is that spambots are still registering in record numbers and posting spam- only now it has to be "moderated" so you guys don't ever see it. I just had to remove 37 threads from the general forum alone, and then ban 37 different spambots... and NOW I can get to approving posts by members in good standing.

Seems like quite a few of the spam threads are slipping by the software. There have been a couple of Louis Vuitton threads recently.

I wonder why the software catches seemingly normal posts and lets threads like this through?

I know the mods hands are tied, and appreciate the fact that they don't just abandon ship. The admins lack of attention in this matter must be incredibly frustrating. I had contact with El Gato for awhile, but he's disappeared again. I wish there was something else I could do.

Where are Rayne and The Flayed One to help in this time of need?

P.S. I still think if forum members e-mailed El Gato en masse, it would prompt him to act.

Just came back home from work to sit down and ban about 80-odd spam accounts through email.

This is getting frustrating. And the spamming registrations are increasing by the day.

I just want to say - V and NE, we're not complaining about you at all. I think that you both do a great job.

It's good to get some perspective in terms of how much SPAM we truly do get a day. Too bad that it holds up some of our posts, but it sounds like we'd get a lot more garbage if it wasn't around.

What I think the true problem is:
  • I think that there needs to be someone promoted to Admin who is around here more often (I nominate V, but I'm not sure if it's a responsibility he wants to take on).
  • I also think that we could use more Mods who are around... Flayed, Rayne, and Austin haven't been frequenting this place for a very, very long time... Maybe we need three new Mods? In that vein, I think that Wicker and I are a good start, though it sounds like there are a few others who wouldn't mind helping out.

Maybe that's the conversation that should be happening with El Gato and the other Admins (when they actually reply): Promoting someone else to Admin who can then designate additional Mods. I think that this is really the best course of action here.

^Yeah, I'd be more than happy to help with stuff like that.

I've also expressed interest in being a moderator.

I didn't know you could just promote someone to admin status. Is this possible and should I suggest this to another admin?

V would be my nomination as well. On the surface it looks like a significantly less demanding job, and he works too hard as it is.

P.S. Horror was here!
