just saw The Ice Harvest (with Billy Bob Thornton and John Cusack - who looks to be on major doses of botox and, sadly, is beginning to look just like his sister)

decent, if unremarkable, film noir though very light on the black comedy (except a great turn by the always reliable Oliver Platt)

Yellow Jacket 12-04-2005 02:19 PM

I just got back from a viewing of Aeon Flux. It fuckin' rocked!!! The action was great, special effects are top notch, acting excellent, directing was good, and Charlize Theron looked hotter than ever i this movie (just imagine if this movie would've been R instead of PG-13). If you're looking for a great popcorn flick to see in theaters, then get $10 out of your purse/wallet, head down to the local cineplex, get your ticket, get some grub, and head on in and enjoy Aeon Flux. You won't regret it! Well, hopefully you won't regret it.

I'm curious... do you just like every movie or do go out of your way to only watch things you like? Because I don't think I've ever seen you give anything less than a 7.

I'm not knocking ya. Just askin'.

AUSTIN316426808 12-05-2005 02:34 AM

Same thing I was wondering. Pretty sure I've never seen less than 7.

Amalthea 12-05-2005 03:18 AM

Well, I edit Body Snatchers, and give it a 7!

gorefreak 12-05-2005 06:16 AM

Tobe Hooper's "Toolbox Murders". It wasn't too bad, seemed to be a more low budget movie, but it's a lot better than some of these bigger budget stinkers coming out today. :)

Scary Movie

It's been a few years since I saw this last. It doesn't pack nearly the punch it did when all the jokes were fresh but there are still funny parts to it. Keenan Ivory Wayans is pretty funny as the big, tough looking black guy that pretty much only does and says things that make himself looking to be as gay as possible. Nice spoofs on Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Usual Suspects and more. Good for a few laughs, but it was better the firts time I saw it for sure.

that movie actually scared me BEFORE I watched it. I had the menu screen up for about 15 minutes while I made something to eat, and it played that Justice record thing over and over...kinda gets creepy. Anyways, I didn't think it was terrible, but it wasn't good either. I'd see it again if it came on TV.

Last night I watched Duce Bigalow European Gigolo and the remake of Reefer Madness (no, I wasn't stoned).

Sky High

Better than I expected, but still not great. Though the best thing about the movie is that BRUCE CAMPBELL IS IN IT!!!!! He plays the gym teacher, and did a damn good job at it (like nobody expected it)! He stole the show as usual. But, as a high schooler myself, I just can't get over the fact that this is a PG-rated Disney flick baseed in High School. aAnytime you make a movie based in Higgh school, it better be rated R (or PG-13 at the least)! Overall, I'll give it a 3 out of 5. Rent it just for Bruce Campbell.

Suicide Club: Great flick, a little predictable and slow in parts but a lot more coherent than some of the Asian horror I've seen. Good stuff.

Re-Animator: I love this movie, quit reading and go watch it (again).

The Dukes of Hazzard
An ok flick, but definitely not great. Sure, it was enjoyable (and since this was the UNRATED Version, we got to see some tits. Though, they weren't Jessica Simpson's). Speaking of Jessica Simpso, she did a horrendous job here. She let her looks do the acting, adn, though she is hot, I'm still not a fan of the dumbass retard (no offense to retards). The plot was pretty weak. Boss Hog (played by the great Burt Reynolds) wants to use strip mines to destroy the town at the big, county race (they never told us why, though), where Bo (Seann William Scott) and returning town hero turned circuit driver Billy Pricket (James Broday). Oh, and we get some no-nonsense action (which was still somewhat enjoyable). That's all we've got.
Overall, I did enjoy the flick, though I couldn't help but get distracted when the movie started to lose interest. I'll give it 3 stars out of 5.

I thought it was OK...had some decent jokes, but over all it wasnt that funny. All actors involved with the exception of Reynolds [of course] were HORRENDOUS, the plot didnt make much sence, and was VERY repetitive. Extremly repetitive. As in they did the same thing like 20 times in a slightly diffrent way.

2 stars

Beautifully made movie. One of the fucking best.

Are any of the sequels any good?

Despare 12-06-2005 07:53 PM

I bought Bride and Beyond but haven't watched them yet. Chronos is next on my list (hopefully tonight) and then Bride but unfortuanatly I got the rated R version :( .

bwind22 12-06-2005 10:27 PM

I'm not a huge Re-Animator fan, but I own it & Beyond & Bride. The original is the best of those three, followed by Beyond, then Bride, I'd say, but like I mentioned, I'm not a big fan.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

After a debate about this film on the RANK: TCM thread, I figured I was due to rewatch it. What was I thinking? Okay, so it wasn't quite as bad as I recalled it, but it still sucked something fierce! Very bad dialogue for the first quarter of the movie, pretty bad acting throughout (With the exception of Matthew McCounaghey who is always pretty good and Renee Zelwegger who is fine.) The gore is minimal, especially for a TCM movie and the ending is just ridiculously stupid. (The limo guy? Come on! What the fuck was that shit all about?)

I would only recommend this to fans of the franchise and only to those fans that have already seen all the other TCM films, because this is the worst one by far.

The Skeleton Key. Quite a bit better than I expected, and definitely a good, unexpected ending. I know it was meant to be shocking, and kind of a downer, but as soon as I realized what was going on, I couldn't help but smile. Overall: 6.5/10

Yellow Jacket 12-07-2005 01:51 PM

I watched Cinderella Man last night. It's a great fucking movie!!! I'm not going to go into full explanation (cause It'd take too long), but I will say for my money's worth, I wasn't disappointed and the length (2 hrs. and 25 min.) was fitting. Sure, I'll probably only ever watch it a few more times, but I still love the fuck out of this movie!!! I give it 5 stars out of 5!
