The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
I.M.D.B.
Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

Entertaining enough. Some distractedly bad CGI. A few dubious lines of dialogue. Tarzan himself was a pretty boring, brooding character. Also, his constant flexing was very distracting. He's in great shape, he doesn't need to tense all the time. But every shirtless shot he behaves like it's a photo-shoot. Also - dodgy English accent that comes and goes. Entertaining, empty, mindless popcorn movie.

To Kill A Mocking Bird

Sausage Party (2016)

"A sausage strives to discover the truth about his existence."

Fairly funny spoof of Pixar movies. It has funny characters and a surprisingly good story that shows even spoofing the Pixar formula can work (if all of Pixar was on bath salts). It also has a lot to say about religion, race, politics and sexuality. The themes are certainly not subtle, but I don't think subtlety was what they were going for. It wasn't the funniest movie ever, but I still liked the risks they took and the unique and strange vibe the movie had.

A pretty well done movie. Well shot, good acting, fun premise. Other than the initial moment of them entering the cage, I never really felt suspense or dread. And I think this came from the lack of reality regarding the sharks. They were ridiculously aggressive. Even though the CGI was good enough, I never believed the sharks were real, because they didn't behave like normal sharks. Same could be said of most shark movies of course. It was an entertaining movie, but not great.

Over-imaginative 12 year-old Sam heads off to the woods to summer scout camp with his pack convinced he will encounter a monster...and he does.

Enjoyable little Belgium movie. Very well made, good acting, entertaining, violent. I would have liked to have been given more information regarding the 'monsters'. You would never know this wasn't a studio movie as it was very well done. A good movie. Recommended.

The Shrine
I.M.D.B.
Two female journalists and a photographer travel to Europe to investigate a series of mysterious disappearances, only to find themselves embroiled in a struggle against a kind of evil they never expected.

Some awkward acting in this one. The main character, Cindy Sampson, was not great. It was as though she was trying to deliver her lines as quickly as possible. The movie was mildly entertaining, some good gore in places, the premise wasn't great, although it was competently shot. Not recommended.

GORE
Some brief, but well done moments.
OVERALL

NUDITY
Brief side boob at the start.

Horrors of Spider Island.

What a low budgeted piece of crap!
The spider was stupid looking! It looked like one of those giant wire spiders you can get at big lots.

The spider man monster or whatever the hell it was supposed to be, looked like a guy with two pointy teeth and a lot of facial hair.
And on a scale of 0 to 0...

Session 9 (2001)
I.M.D.B.
Tensions rise within an asbestos cleaning crew as they work in an abandoned mental hospital with a horrific past that seems to be coming back.

A good movie with suspense, dread, a heavy dose of creepiness and mystery, with great performances, especially from the always brilliant Peter Mullan. I felt that the mystery and the build-up didn't pay off in the way the location implied it would, which left me feeling a bit let down, but overall a very good movie. Recommended.

Lol -- I just got a kick that you wrote 'you like it' instead of 'you liked it'.

And also I was hoping you'd expand on the film a bit.

Grizzly (2015)
aka Into the Grizzly Maze
aka Red Machine: Hunt or be Hunted
I.M.D.B.

Two estranged brothers reunite at their childhood home in the Alaskan wild. They set out on a two-day hike and are stalked by an unrelenting grizzly bear.

Mildly entertaining movie about a pissed off bear fighting back against over-poaching and logging. Certainly not great, but the acting is solid and it's well made. There's just nothing much interesting happening here.

I thought Once Upon a time in Mexico was where the series kind've fell down.
Not bad, just...didn't do it for me.

I realise, I haven't watched an actual movie in a while...having a (now) toddler makes this difficult.
Watched a bit of "The Intern" before I fell asleep.
Actually looked like a decent, heartfelt movie.
Though seriously, I think I've had enough of Anne Hathaway. I don't hate her or anything, she's just...in too many damn movies.

Lake Nowhere, 2014. {45 min. short film}

Thumb resize.

Fantastic! Its a short film with two faux trailers for movies that are pretty cool. Retro slasher feel that has all the basics, sex, nudity, gore blood but with an underlying twist! The cinematography was amazing and had an underground feel. The whole forty minutes or so made me feel comforted. 8/10 : )

VOD it here!

Idealistic FBI agent Nate Foster goes undercover to take down a radical white supremacy terrorist group. The up-and-coming analyst must confront the challenge of sticking to a new identity while maintaining his real principles as he navigates the dangerous underworld of white supremacy.

Good movie, with a heavy dose of tension throughout, kept interesting by a strong performance from Daniel Radcliffe. Recommended.

Split Second (1992) - found an old favorite on Hulu. Yes, I know the plot makes no sense, but it has Rutger Hauer, Kim Cattrall, and a big scary monster.

Nemesis (1992) - Hulu picked this as a follow up to Split Second. Good choice if "Big Trouble in Little China" isn't available.

Return of the Living Dead (1985)
I.M.D.B.
When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies.

Hardly contemporary, but the new blue-ray was released last month, and I had never seen this classic before.

A very fun movie, with everyone chewing up the scenery and plenty of over-the-top gore. Great fun, with plenty of 80's awesomeness.

I was going to use the scene of when he is screaming because he can't see, that part is funny as hell.

Imperium (2016)
B/C
Decent enough and not boring or anything but it felt quite average.

Spoilers
"-His bosses creating a hassle about him going undercover was unnecessary. Would've worked just as well if it was a regular job with all his superiors in agreement.
-So his former skinhead buddies don't bother him or anything after the job's finished? The mean drunk know where he lives. The militia guys probably too.

Yeah I was disappointed in that one. :(

Just watched "The Invitation" on Netflix last night and loved it. Good weird slow burn with a satisfying conclusion.
