Heather (from the original)'s brother goes back to the woods to search for her 20 years later.

Thought it was pretty stupid.

I watched a good amount, about 30 or so minutes and stopped as I thought it was pretty good. Same amount of fun as the original from what I saw. I stopped watching so I could enjoy it during the October month.

I also thought it started out promising. Really liked the couple that asked to join along with them.

Damn, I guess you are saying it goes downhill after where I stopped. I stopped around the camp scene with the return of that couple. I'm tempted to finish the movie now but I have a few other things to do first so I can enjoy it.

CLARA'S GHOST 2018

More of a comedy than a horror but all right. Dysfunctional family type of thing.

FryeDwight 06-28-2021 02:12 AM

INSIDIOUS (2010). Good atmosphere and use of music/lighting (and on a small budget to boot), but story just couldn't justify the length and also seeing "Redface" on HDC Home page took away what might have been scary. Thankfully, not bloody , especially coming from the SAW team. **1/2

SAFE (1995)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Carol (Julianne Moore) seems to have it all...wealthy husband , house in San Fernando, gym classes, lunches with friends, etc. Close observation, You'll notice how bland it all seems and how bored she looks through it all...check the scene where she is making whoopee with hubby!

Boredom becomes the least of her problems, as her health goes into the toilet for no discernible reason. The best that can be found is all the everyday chemicals we seem to take for granted MAY be responsible. She is sent to a retreat with fellow sufferers, but this may not be a better situation.

Film (set in 1987)is good, but very ambiguous...Possible Carol's illness could be a metaphor for AIDS, as she is clearly ill, but no luck in finding what or why. Kind of scary when You think of how many chemicals are around Us all day, every day. And truth to tell, the Retreat section of the film goes on too long. However, as usual, Julianne is great and nice also to see Jessica Harper (SUSPIRIA, PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, PENNIES FROM HEAVEN) in a small role. ***

Good stuff, that. I love how the jovial accent makes him extra scary.

WINCHESTER 2018

The heir to half the Winchester gun fortune tries to attone for all the deaths caused by the guns. She builds what seems to be a never-ending house.

Enjoyable

Im not hard to please. I remember thinking when this came out that it would be too "Hollywood ". But I ended up enjoying it and liked Helen Mirren and really liked the guy who played the doctor.

Spree was a very good bit of satire.

Just finished knocking out a 12 paragraph review on letterboxd, so not really in the mood to go in depth now. But it's well worth seeing.

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN (2011)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >

Decent film suffers from so many disjointed scenes, some making You wonder why the event is happening and some that make no sense (the part which looks like a Tomato fight), but if You stay with it, things begin to add up. "Kevin" is truly a Bad Seed, but is it He was just born that way, his incredibly clueless Father (John C Reilley) or his indifferent mother (Tilda Swinton looking a lot like David Bowie) that is responsible? **1/2

PAY THE GHOST 2015

Bit of a lame "Hollywood" type movie. A man's young son disappeared on Halloween night and his last words to his dad were " Can we pay the ghost?".

JURASSIC PARK (1993). Jeff Goldblum's pithy quips and the annoying little boy have taken some of the luster off this, but the Dinosaur stuff is still just fine. It's been years since I watched and still incredibly suspenseful in many parts, especially in the kitchen! Also, hard to believe Samuel L Jackson could ever be so soft spoken::wink::. Saw PULP FICTION a year after this and drove Me nuts trying to figure out who Jules was, especially with all the closeups.
Can't believe it's been almost 30 years since this came out. Saw it with my Brother in a Quad Sound system theater and almost deafening when the T Rex hunkers down and bellows! ****1/2
