Burning in Hell 11-20-2006 10:07 AM

Ouch!

Gotta go with Return of the Living Dead because of all these "brains" one liners, but VERY close matchup.

Re-Animator

Re-Animator

Spec7ral 11-20-2006 04:05 PM

Wow. this is a tough one. I almost just posted reanimator without even checking what the other one was... i kinda wish i'd done that. Hmmmm. I guess reanimator but only cause its original score is better. I'd say other than that they are really close to being equal.

Re-Animator overcomes tough opposition from Return of the Living Dead to eventually win 9-5!!

Summary of Round 3 for Group B coming up...

_____V_____ 11-21-2006 04:45 AM

There were many unexpected shocker matches in Group B, resulting in the elimination of quite a few critically acclaimed movies. Most of the eventual popular movies have moved on into the pre-Quarter Finals, but all the notable losers of Round 3 for Group B are :-

The Serpent and the Rainbow (HDC Top 100 Ranking-98th)...Craven's masterly tale of zombification fell flat against Carpenter's all-time masterpiece...

Scanners (HDC Top 100 Ranking-96th)...Cronenberg's mind-benders didnt have enough steam to overcome Cameron's creatures...

Halloween II (HDC Top 100 Ranking-82nd)...Raimi's genius was too much for this extremely popular sequel...

The Howling (HDC Top 100 Ranking-62nd)...Extremely popular and original, but the London werewolf beat it by a mile...

Return of the Living Dead (HDC Top 100 Ranking-35th)...I personally thought this was going to be a tough match to choose, but Herbert West eventually prevailed...

Friday the 13th (HDC Top 100 Ranking-30th)...who knew Mrs.Voorhees would be struck out by teenage vampires eh?

The Shining (HDC Top 100 Ranking-10th)...The BIGGEST upset of the tournament so far...a surprising win for the demented Henry!!

A Nightmare on Elm Street (HDC Top 100 Ranking-9th)...equally a BIG upset...but the Cenobites proved to be too much for Freddy Krueger in a close contest...

pre-Quarter Finals rolling up next...

So you'd prefer Thomas Edison's 1910 version of Frankenstein over James Whale's remake? Or Hammer's remakes of the Universal classics?

Nup- just been burned too many times bye remakes that just didn't measure up, IMO- including this one.

The Fly edges out The Hitcher in a close contest by pipping it to the post, winning 9-7 in a very keenly and intensely fought match!!
