Nah regular visits of thrift stores and shit will pay off. A lot of stuff is fetching collector prices here and there but you can still strike a lot of gems for fuck all.
I've found it few and far between lately over here but every couple of months there's some really good shit pops up for a couple of bucks.

Really pissed on all the Conan and Rambo knockoffs I missed out on when tapes were on sale everywhere.

nicklord1 03-07-2009 02:52 AM

cheers for your help , it seems the genre made aload of rubbish and the decent ones hardly any are put out on dvds but i found a few.

nicklord1 03-07-2009 02:53 AM

man they have supposed to be released i guess ill check it out in a few months

nicklord1 03-07-2009 02:53 AM

i found the dvd its released under a different name , but still quite a rare movie to get hold of.

Has anyone here seen it

Zero 03-11-2009 04:22 PM

uhh........no

Zombi3 03-18-2009 09:20 PM

I've just recently bought and viewed: Black Sabbath, Black Sunday, and Shock, all were pretty good, I think i'll check out Hatchet for the Honeymoon next.
I'd consider getting that Mario Bava Vol. 1 boxed set but i already own 2 of the films in it.
Would it be worth the 30.00 to get it for the remaining 3 films? The Girl Who Knew Too Much, Knives of the Avenger and Kill Baby Kill
Are they available anywhere separately?

pulpmonster 03-30-2009 10:10 AM

I love Bava.....
absolute classics are Black Sunday and Black Sabbath as stated above. Another favorite of mine is Planet of the Vampires....a major inspiration for Alien...it's also got the coolest sado/fetish costumes of the 60's and of coarse Bava's amazing multi-color lighting. Overall, one of the coolest horrors of the 60's. I'd also recommend Kill Baby Kill for it's amazing atmosphere.

nicklord1 04-01-2009 09:36 AM

No the 1980 movies that refers to the 50s movie

crabapple 04-01-2009 11:14 PM

I think you are referring to the Bigfoot gore movie from 1980?

I haven't heard about a new release of this film but I did watch an old VHS release of it at one point, and it was, um, unique. I kinda liked it!

nicklord1 04-02-2009 01:06 AM

absurd

absurd ---- any news of a dvd release

Ferox13 04-02-2009 02:05 AM

Yeah I have an original pre-VRA vhs release of this..Prolly woth a few quid as it was on the 'Nasties list' (have an Antro/Absurd/Love Camp 7 etc etc too)

nicklord1 04-02-2009 08:11 AM

Defo ferox you should slap them on ebay if your in need for extra cash

Ferox13 04-02-2009 03:29 PM

I have a few 100 British pre-VRA vhs. I have some contacts - i'll prolly sell the rest on EBay...

Prolly rip the ones that have no DVD release first though.

it is in post-production

Elvis_Christ 04-02-2009 05:06 PM

What sort of prices do the "Nasties" get these days? I've got a few rareties like that but won't be parting with 'em.

nicklord1 04-03-2009 12:59 AM

not sure mate but i remember cannibal holocaust went for 100s on ebay.

Rodus 04-03-2009 04:45 AM

Don't think so, AFAIK the only way to get it on DVD is via one of the VHS to DVD transfers you see on Ebay etc, thats how I got mine. I think it's still locked up in a nasty rights argument.

Rodus 04-03-2009 04:49 AM

The nasties are unfortunately worth very little nowadays as you can get nearly all of them uncut on DVD with extras. Like some of you guys I have a fair few pre VRA tapes and did look into selling them but the bottoms fallen out of the market. People no longer want to pay through the nose for a crappy VHS with limited lifespan. You can hardly even buy VHS players nowadays.

Elvis_Christ 04-03-2009 06:56 AM

Why pay for bootlegs like that when you could just DIY?

Elvis_Christ 04-03-2009 07:03 AM

$10 is about the most I'd pay for tapes these days. I still dig 'em, especially since a lot of the DVDs are expensive to import.

You'd be suprised what people still pay for. The is still a lot of collectors who want certain films on certain labels and still pay be bucks for them but nothing Like the Offers I was getting for my Antro/Absurd back in the day.

nicklord1 04-05-2009 01:13 AM

Best ww2 movies ?

Please provide a list of post 1970s war movies that kick ass. Cheers

Ferox13 04-05-2009 02:33 AM

Big Red One (though its 1980)

Kellys Heroes

Cross of Iron

A Bridge Too Far

Dirt Dozen (late 60s though)

scouse mac 04-05-2009 06:00 AM

If you only watch one, make sure its A Bridge Too Far

Das Boot
The Bridge of Remagen (1969 though)
The Eagle has Landed (for a bit of fun)

re93animator 04-05-2009 06:20 AM

My personal favorite WWII film is Das Boot. It was released in 1981, but is certainly worth the watch.

A few more:
Battle of Britain 1969
MacArthur 1977
Midway 1976
Too Late the Hero 1970
Tora! Tora! Tora! 1970

Geddy 04-05-2009 06:51 AM

Overlord is my favourite WWII flick. About half of it is constructed with actual war footage and the other half is a fictional narrative.

nicklord1 04-08-2009 04:09 AM

In bold .

Roderick Usher 04-24-2010 10:27 AM

Torso
New York Ripper
Your Vice is a Locked Room
Pieces (not exactly a giallo... it's from Spain, but it's deleriously wacky!)

Ferox13 04-24-2010 10:51 AM

Definally Blood and Black Lace should be top of your list if u haven't seen it..

Elvis_Christ 04-24-2010 06:48 PM

I didn't get into Torso or Strip Nude For Your Killer as much as a lot of people.

Stagefright and The New York Ripper cross more into the slasher territory. I like the grizzly edge those two have. What would people recommend along those lines?
