Star Wars: Fallen Order.

I wanted to like it.
It looks amazing. The sounds are just right. The musical score is insanely good. The weather effects are really cool and I'm thus far enjoying the storyline.

I'm on the second "world".

Though tbh the game is annoying.

Your character is quite stiff - Uncharted did the running/balancing/jumping/climbing thing in a much more user friendly, better looking and effective way.

The combat is...not great...like true, you get more moves etc so maybe I'm pre-judging that factor just a little bit.
Fighting storm troopers and deflecting laser shots into them is fairly cool...but it's the fights that just come across as quite basic.

They put some godaweful giant frog boss type thing WAY too early in the game when you're at your weakest...and I got to die about 15 times before beating it...of course it was after that I discovered you didn't have to.

The worlds LOOK good but the level design is pretty horrible...the MAP they show you through the robot thing is not really helpful at all. I'm literally on a level where I have to put big spheres in places on the floor...and now that's all done I don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing...where I'm supposed to be going...and I have been just wondering around like an asshole for about an hour and a half of play time since. It's annoying.

Honestly, I really want to like this game...but if it doesn't show signs of improvement I think I'm gonna have to ditch it...not because it's too difficult (though some people would DEFINITELY say that) but because it's a Star Wars game, and I'm finding myself nothing but annoyed and bored.

We shall see. Don't like the odds of bothering with this.

One day I'll get another Shadows of the Empire...One day...

I'm going to try or get Fallen Order when it's cheap. I really don't like paying full price for EA games. I don't think I've ever played a really good EA game. I watched a few gameplay videos and heard good things about Fallen Order though.

I did like Shadows of the Empire on N64. But I believe I rented it either because I didn't have enough money to own it. Or I wasn't sure about the quality of the game back then. I don't think I own it. But I know I own the book and soundtrack.

I might get the mini arcade for the old Star Wars arcade game that includes Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I saw a leaked image of a larger sitdown version. Not quite the old arcade cockpit but I might be able to look around that since it has the trilogy of games.

Any of you guys play Jedi Knight, Mysteries of the Sith or Jedi Outcast at some point? How does Fallen Order and Shadows of the Empire compare?

Never heard of those. I want to play the role playing games though I believe called Knights of the Old Republic. I heard the first one was good. But it came out on the original Xbox and I couldn't trust that system. Mine was scratching the odd disc and it didn't make sense to continue buying and playing games or movies on the system with Microsoft not admitting the problem. In which they decided to cheap out and not cushion the disc drive. It didn't surprise me at all that the Xbox 360 was even worse.

Borderlands 3 -- too many gun drops. You get like 4 gold gun drops every mission. Too much stuff, it's not special and too much work sorting through all of it. I'm still playing some BD2, as friends prefer it to BD3.

Civ 5 -- I shouldn't have started on the regular difficulty setting. It's too easy and no challenge. I have all the Wonders and will have all I'm eligible for. I could easily wipeout the other civs, but I'm trying to learn the game still. Probably will go on to the end, likely cultural victory, unless I get too bored and go military. It's too bad Civ doesn't hire a guy who can make the military AI good.

I’d like to see Civ being reinvented, because every new edition is just the first game with minor changes. Didn’t even bother finishing 5.

What was the Civ 5 game you didn't finish? map size, difficulty

I'm sticking to small maps, as I learned my lesson trying to play in a big world one time... take ya a year to finish.

Civ 5 seems to really hit on the Culture and Specialist aspect a lot more. It makes cities better able to defend themselves, but that doesn't change the game that much regarding the AI. In past Civs, if you invaded an AI, all the units would run to a city, instead of tying to out maneuver you, or make any real attempt at beating you in your territory.

In my one Civ 5 war, a Civ attacked me. I wasn't impressed by the strategy. The AI didn't go for the Iron resources, so I'm assuming the AI hasn't gotten at all more strategic. When I invaded their territory, they basically just ran into their cities.

Problem with Civ is the AI military ability is much worse than it should be. I've seen some decent world-war AI in other games, like TripleA. Since the Civ AI is so bad, the increase in difficulty just gives the AI civs a ton more (typically) Science, Gold and Production, so you'll always be way behind, never get a Wonder, and it forces you to try to win militarily. The only way to dabble in the other Victory tactics is to play another human(s). I've never tried playing another or group in Civ, seems like it would take a million years.

Literally about to turn on "Yakuza: Kiwami", which aside from #0 that I just played through, will be my only foray into the "original" series whatsoever.
0 was fun.
We'll see about this.

I must say I'm not an avid player. Scares are always subjective. The game itself is quite simplistic and there are few puzzles to solve during the playthrough. Some are slightly complex and it can get monotonous after a while... Graphics is average, I guess. Some characters are quite creepy, while some are just plain. If there's one thing to say about Home Sweet Home, it's that there's a pretty good attention to atmosphere. It's dark and haunting. I liked this game at the beginning, it gave me the creeps... but as the game went on, it became a little bit bland. ::wink::

The Last of Us 2 PS4

Absolutely beautiful to look at and the The first hour was a perfect blend of gameplay and movie scenes. Then the open world part begins and the game takes a nosedive in entertainment and diversity. Still beautiful, but all the “side missions” are just you getting more scrap for upgrades that doesn’t make too much of a difference, instead of you finding more useful items.

And I’m sure all fans of the first game agrees that the developers made one HUGE mistake. 😡

Rainbow Six Siege:
I tried playing some with my nephew... him showing me how to play, and then watching each other take a turn playing with online players. Cool game. Five-vs-five hostage rescue, bomb defuse, type of games (like Counter-strike and hostage/bomb defuse in Call of Duty games).

The newer features of this game is destructible walls and floors, adding a more realistic aspect. Also has a lot more tech features, like video cameras, seeing through walls. One item analyses thermal footsteps and then displays where that enemy is. Also, a character can wound an enemy, "interrogate" him, and then displays where all the enemy team members are.

A PC gamer like me will take a long time to get decent at it, that is trying to aim with the thumb joystick (analog stick) (rather than keyboard/mouse)… not to mention using a controller for everything else as well, shooting, moving etc. I've played a lot of this mode type in Call of Duty games.

Whereas I was fairly useless to my team (and one guy entered a vote to kick me after my first round), I was able to share some strategy advice to my nephew, particularly when to use a cooked or stun/flash bang grenade.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night:
Just started playing this modern-day scroller, in the Castlevania mode. Again, getting used to using a controller with this.

It's ok so far. I really enjoyed the old Duke Nukem side scrollers 30 years ago, and enjoyed playing Castlevania on Nintendo 20 years ago. But where I might replay a Duke emulator (or Zelda/Nintendo), after playing Castlevania once, I'm not interested in replaying it.

After a few death's fighting the first level's boat boss, I looked up how to beat it on youtube. I'd normally want to figure it out myself, but I wasn't so interested in this.

I just got Bloodstained a week ago. A buddy kind of pushed it on me. ::big grin:: It's not a game I would have thought of myself. But I'm starting to get into the melee aspect of it.

When your Kickstarter items show up? What's your kickstarter? "Help me play Bloodstained"? ::wink:: Just read your Bloodstained OP... so Bloodstained is a kickstarter game? Didn't know that. Why do you have to wait? I bought it from Steam.

You don't know about Kickstarter?

Basically normal people, help start various projects that can't find money. It could be any thing from video games, board games, watches, fidget toys, etc. But in the case of these big video games, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night and Shenmue 3 were the two big ones a few years ago. For the most part, they use Kickstarter as a tool for interest free money without the usual investor protection. Then go to whatever publisher for the rest of the funding. We have this much money now help us the rest of the way.

The Kickstarter people are seen as "backers" not investors. Thus some bad stuff can happen. Such as receiving poor games or at times no game at all. Doesn't have to be games, any item.

Things change that were promised. It happened with Bloodstained over the difference between a slipcase and dust jacket. And even more stuff like things being backer exclusive.

Late "rewards" or "goodies" even though in Kickstarter these things are basically sold as pre-order items. Give us this amount of money and you'll get this item. Not give us this amount of investment money without protection and you might get this item, once we fulfill our obligation to our publisher and make money selling the video game to the larger market. Of course, the game is the real focus and getting it to sell well. So rewards, goodies, or extras for "backers" usually arrive late in the majority of the projects I've seen. Instead of first, since those "backers" are responsible for the project even existing in the first place.

I could go on. But I wouldn't recommend Kickstarter anymore unless the person or company is small and really can't find money. The majority of projects I've seen are released anyway. And unless the item offered on Kickstarter is really special. I have the signed Bloodstained edition which is cool for me because I like the director and music composer. But other than that, there is no reason to risk your money on people that could be scammers or that will have more obligation to their other investors over the people that really started the project.

I thought it looked more like that Sekiro one.

Shenmue 3 just didn't grab me...sadly...very sadly...that plus hearing it's yet another "to be continued" I'm not about to invest any time in it until such a time as I know that more game/s is even a possibility.

About to put on the remaster of Yakuza 3, 4, 5.

I am currently playing Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Gamecube version and that too on my Android smartphone So, Basically, I was getting bored in the lockdown and I came to know that you can play GameCube games using gamecube emulator on your Android Smartphone. I simply installed the gamecube emulator and added the rom of POP The Sands of time and started playing it. My father bought me a Gamecube when I was little and I used to play a lot of games on it. So, it is more like a nostalgic experience.

One thing that impresses me is that you can have older games as mini games inside the new game. That's how far we've come in game sizes.
